Commissioning

Commissioning

Commissioning is the process of ensuring that a system or component is designed, installed, tested, and operates according to the specified requirements. In the context of electrical systems, commissioning ensures that the electrical design functions as intended. and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best.

Key Activities

  • Inspection and testing of electrical components
  • Verification of wiring and connections
  • Functional testing of control systems
  • Performance testing of power distribution

Types of Commissioning in Construction

Initial Commissioning

This involves testing and verifying the functionality of newly installed electrical systems before they are put into operation. It ensures that all components are correctly installed and working as intended.

Re-commissioning:

This occurs periodically throughout the lifespan of the electrical system. It involves assessing the system’s performance, identifying any issues or inefficiencies, and making necessary adjustments to improve its functionality and energy efficiency.

Retro-commissioning:

This type of commissioning is performed on existing electrical systems that have never been commissioned or may have experienced performance degradation over time. It involves evaluating the system’s current performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing measures to enhance efficiency and functionality.
